| ABOUT US |
Sydney Pilot Service holds Quality Assurance (QA) certification to ISO
9001;2000.
The company employs 18 pilots, all experienced Master Mariners, with time in
command of a vessel as an entry qualification to the pilotage service. Using four 18-knot pilot vessels, Sydney Pilot Service offers a
round-the-clock service. The Pilot Station is manned continuously and the
services of a pilot can be obtained at any time with two hours notice. Pilotage is compulsory for vessels of 30 metres and over in length.
Bookings are facilitated by an authorised Shipping Agent through the Sydney Ports
Integrated Port System (ShIPS). For further information on pilotage, please contact telephone 9337 6648. This site is continuously being developed. Sydney Harbour’s specialised port facilities handle a
wide range of vessels and cargoes, including dry bulk and general cargo,
containers and motor vehicles.
The Port is linked to road and rail networks serving Sydney, NSW and Australia.
Sydney Harbour is also the leading destination for cruise shipping in the South Pacific
region, serviced by two purpose-built, world-class cruise vessel facilities.
Port Botany is well serviced by road and rail networks, together with
Sydney’s nearby international and domestic airports.
Port Botany’s two modern container terminals are complemented by a modern bulk
liquids facility, an adjacent bulk liquids storage and distribution complex and
by container support businesses.
From 26 October 2002, Sydney Pilot Service, a wholly owned subsidiary
company of Sydney Ports Corporation commenced providing pilotage services in the
